Why did NCPDP Create the HCIdea Enumerator?

. Building on our success of the pharmacy file over the past years, NCPDP created HCidea in response to our membership's need for a standardized prescriber identifier.

. The health care industry, particularly pharmacy, needs one source of data to identify all prescribers. Given the continued delays in the NPI, NCPDP decided it was time for action.

What Will HCIdea Do?

. HCIdea will provide a complete, accurate and affordable prescriber database that is updated routinely.

. HCIdea will eliminate the need for companies to purchase multiple prescriber data sources and crosswalks to identify prescribers.
